  1. We're looking at building this functionality into Nitro Pro 7.0. Please provide us with some feedback about what you do and don't like about existing implementations of such tools.

  2. We're working on some library improvements at the moment which will result in smaller file sizes when saving in Nitro Pro (also faster). This will be included in version 6.0 in Q1 of 2009.

  3. cjy123,

Could you be a little more specific in what part of Nitro Pro you're talking about. Do you mean after you've made changes to a PDF inside the Nitro Pro application, then click Save?

Or when you convert source documents (e.g. Word) to PDF?

  4. All done guys :)

  5. You should all receive an invite shortly.

  6. To quickly complete a drawing, you can simply right click and select "Pencil Eraser", then right click again and select "Pencil". Does that help you in the meantime?

  7. eric, that's been done.

  8. ben, mustang, fred, you have all been added to the list.

  9. @kd7ms all preferences in Nitro are "per user" so there is no issue.

  10. Already done! (But not well advertised) - see http://tinyurl.com/nitropdf

  11. hi guys... you've all been added and should receive an email with access details :)

  12. if you find exporting to RTF/Word takes too long for large documents, you can instead export "Text & Images" which creates a plain text file sans formatting.

  13. Implemented in Nitro 5.5.0.6 beta, the last font details are remembered while you're editing within the current document. Please contact support if you'd like to be involved in the pre-release program.

  14. If your comment has been removed then your details have been added to the contact list :)

  15. @RobertSU For simple text-to-speech try Microsofts instructions over at support.microsoft.com/kb/306902 or for more screen reader options have a look at www.thefreecountry.com/utilities/free-screen-readers.shtml

  16. Nitro can export PDF files as text (Export Text & Images) which can then be converted to audio or read out loud using a variety of free utilities,

  17. tony, kd7mvs and others... I've created a Nitro discussion forum at http://tinyurl.com/nitropdf (no registration required, unlike the Planet PDF forums)

  18. This is coming in out 5.5 version, due for release in October.

  19. multi-line text entry is planned. Advanced text layout and multi-column entry won't be - for those type of advanced tasks it is much more efficient to create your document in a word processor or desktop publishing application with and then convert the final product to PDF.

Nitro is designed to compliment other desktop applications such as Microsoft Word, not replace them.

  20. Check out PDF Download for Firefox, you have a few more options regarding PDF conversion and this could be a good feature there. Nitro PDF only provides limited support for converting saved webpages, the other solution would be to open only the desired frame in your browser then print that to PDF. Firefox at least has a right click > show this frame option, I'm not sure about IE.

  21. @kd7mvs Don't worry, it's an advanced feature :) Redaction is required by lawyers and the like, permanently removing information from a document so that there's no way it can be recovered.

  22. You will be able to scan to PDF from within Nitro Pro, and add the searchable text layer in the one step. We're really looking forward to it :)

  23. It will be included with version 6.0, due in Q4 2008/Q1 2009.

  24. Hi guys, if I understand your suggestion correctly, then this functionality is already in Nitro Pro. For more information check out http://www.nitropdf.com/help/attach_files_to_pdf.htm

  1. @jnagyjr pdf2html won't do it, the feature in question is the reverse, html2pdf (but with clickable links.... not just printing to pdf)

  2. This has been in place with Web-to-PDF from day 1. If you open a PDF created using Web-to-PDF Adobe Reader, Nitro Pro, etc all web links are clickable.

  3. @DavidMD when you select "Open" the PDF is saved in the temp folder, select "Download It" to specify the folder of your choosing. Hover over any of the buttons for more detailed tooltips about what each button does... hope that helps!

  4. @kd7mvs - rest assured we want to keep PDF Download as small and fast as possible so don't worry about that :)

This might tie in with some other work we're doing, so if you like this idea vote up!!

  5. PDF Download already lets you choose what to do with your PDFs, we're just presenting the regular firefox download screen so can't do something specific just for web2pdf conversions.

  6. Gill, we aren't planning on charging money for PDF Download, so yes, if this feature was added it would be free.

  7. @kd7mvs Conversion takes place on our servers, not locally. Otherwise the extension would be a 20-30Mb download and not cross platform or suitable for 'low powered' machines.

  8. If you need to convert local pages (on Windows) you can try the free Primo PDF printer (www.primopdf.com) or Nitro PDF (Pro or Express from www.nitropdf.com). Unfortunately the server side conversion of PDF Download is the best of the bunch and the only one to currently retain clickable links.

  9. Hey all,

If you use the 'Email Web Page as PDF' feature, then in the e-mail you will be provided with the original URL that was used for the conversion.

What we could do for the 'Save Web Page as PDF' feature is add the URL to the comments field in the document summary section of the PDF.
